Sitting in a room in El Paso awaiting Texan woman, full of wit and feminist history of Texas. She convinced us there were more than one pocket of liberalism in this o so wide state! She wore a longhorns baseball cap and sunglasses, which prompted the eyes to move toward the cattle silhouette. The cap pressed her bangs down and outward so that she appeared to have antlers as appeared on her hat. She talked about many political issues, her work as a criminal defender, her opinions about health insurance, and taught us quite a lot about San Antonio.
I will close with a final observation she made, then it is time for brunch at the trek to Tucson…
“I love these whitebread folks who move here from places like Ohio. They come here and think this is a nice place and it has some color to it. They don’t understand that this is a Mexican town, Mexican governed. I love that about San Antonio!”
Thanks for checking in, everyone!
